It is critical to have a configurable print task added to the parcel viewer application in which you could possibly have a couple of layouts to choose from that could include some parcel details (name, address, units, etc).  Or you may just have one layout where the map is square and the details are on the side, either way would be very, very handy. It comes with some of the other web applications. Is there a reason to leave it off of this one?

Currently the only solution is to configure it on your server in which case you would be responsible for hosting. I am looking for an "out of the box," no server needed solution for smaller organizations that don't have the resources to host a Land Records GIS website.

In other words if they have to host it themselves (requiring additional hardware/software and maintenance) then what's the point of paying for a subscription to ArcGIS Online? What good is information you find on the web if you can't print it?

New Windows 8 based tablet devices have integrated GPS chips.  Those chips distribute location information via the new Windows Location API and not through a COM port.  I'd like to see an option added to ArcPad/Mobile that will allow them to use this as the location source.  (This is for full Windows 8 not RT)

In our professional drawing office and many other internationally we have to add "clouds" around parts of the map or alignment sheet which have been revised or updated. Clouds seem to be the excepted standard accepted by engineers globally

I know in AutoCAD they just have a pen tool with which can draw a "cloud" around anything. In ArcMap it is a nightmare and if you use the freehand graphic tool they look awful and copying and pasting in images is not ideal especially when it come to unusual shapes. ArcGIS needs this tool. Eg.example of a revision cloud

Working for a civil engineering firm I think it would be great if CityEngine could be used as a way of modeling underground infrastructure, such as: sewer networks and water distribution.

CityEngine looks to be an awesome visualization tool with great detail.  Having the ability to pull in attribute data from GIS utilities and have it displayed in such a rich environment I think would provide a great way for municipalities and private companies alike to 'see' their infrastructure and how it is related in 3D space.

Some of the key fields I can think of to start with in building a working model would be:
    • StructureID - unique ID of structure
    • Rim Elevation - elevation at top of structure
    • Structure Depth - depth of structure
    • Invert Elevation - elevation at bottom of structure
    • Structure Diameter - diameter of structure
    • Structure Material - material of structure (ex: concrete, brick, block, wood, etc...)
    • Pipe Diameter - diameter of pipe
    • Pipe Material - material of pipe
    • Upstream Pipe Elevation - elevation at upstream end of pipe
    • Downstream Pipe Elevation - elevation at downstream end of pipe
    • PipeID - unique ID of pipe
    • Surface - import from TIN, DEM, contours, etc...
These are just some of my quick thoughts on the subject, but I think having the ability to visualize an underground network in such a detailed and rich environment like CityEngine would be something that is unlike anything out there right now.

Our scientist are often outside our center (e.g. on research cruises). When leasing a concurrent license for this time they have alwas to delete the license manager entry in ArcGIS Administrator. This is because the program always checks for the license manager at startup when you a in a networked environment. This is the case even on research vessels without any internet connection.
Without deleting the license manager string in ArcGIS Administrator startup of any ArcGIS program is very very slow in this circumstances. For our scientists such workaround is not convenient. Why not make (concurrent) license leases more user friendly using an algorithm which always prefers a local license in advance of checking the network for the license manager.

The Buffer tool should have an additional option when buffering from lines, especially lines in the form of a network like transmission lines, streams, pipelines, etc.

The option should be something like "no overlap - split the difference"  with the results like the graphic below.
This is useful for overlaying buffers onto resource layers to quantify environmental impacts.
Absence of this option requires user to create elaborate models or undertake manual editing to accomplish the desired results.

Output from buffer using no-overlap split the difference rule.

The default basemaps available for the Silverlight viewer, available through ArcGIS Online, are all tiled caches.  Certain domains (i.e. utilities) need to have access to basemap data that allows a deeper "zoom" level than what is otherwise available.  Even if the larger geospatial context is unusable, the location and presence of valves, meters, mains, etc. give the utility GIS professional the context s/he needs.  Please consider adding either:
    • A good, dynamic basemap service that allows users to zoom to whatever level they need, or
    • a tiled basemap service that zooms to about 2 or 3 levels beyond the standard 20 available in the topographic basemap.

Controlling data can be challenging.  As an electric utility I have alot of requirements on data.  An example would be street lights.  I have 100+ options for lights and about 10 fields that need controlling, however, I have no desire to create 100+ subtypes since this would be tough to manage.  Current we have only two subtypes in order to symbolize upon.  As a way of controlling the large amount of optional data we propose a 'sub-subtype' or 'classifcation' (a second tier of data control).  This way I can establish a series of classifications that control fields for each subtype without overwhelming the display and query functions that could occur with having too many subytpes.

I'd heard that 10.1 will include support for GPX to points. This should also include the option to import as polyline, according to the time stamp (as it does in ArcGIS Explorer). In addition, the tool/feature should be two way: we should be able to take a point or line shape file and convert to GPX to upload onto a GPS. I work in and teach saerch and rescue and this would be a great feature to have, allowing us to upload critical parts of our SAR maps (landing zones, clue locations, safe routes) onto team's gps units. I suspect it would also have wider public use for cyclists and other recreation.

Before ArcMap 10 came out you could have ArcReader installed along side of ArcMap.
It's nice to be able to proof your work before it goes out and with out requiring a second PC.

We currently use Bently WaterGems which is ok, but it would be nice if ArcGIS could do the same thing.
In WaterGems we are restricted to 2500 water mains or less.  so we tend to only use 6" and bigger mains.
There are other programs out there that do more but ArcGIS I think would be a better platform.

Please consider providing a method for toggling on/off the (green arrow) Repeat Attribut Button on the edit forms in ArcPad 10.  I've asked this question in Support and they reply that there is no way to do this, however, sometimes it doesn't appear on the forms but most times it does.  We need control of this function.

What would be even better is the ability to associate the Repeat Attribute Button per field instead of per record.  Utility Field inspectors often work in the same municipality, circuit and plan for several days.  The data collected for one site only  needs these few fields repeated but the way the button works now, it's all or nothing.  We have received a lot of bad data because of this button being accidentally activated.

    Thank you

Using the ArcGIS Online Assistant (http://ecaldwell.github.com/AgolAssistant/), web maps may be copied from pre-existing ArcGIS Online public accounts into an ArcGIS Online organization.  However, when maps are copied their ratings, comments and number of views are not preserved.  We have web maps created under public accounts that are up to 3 years old and have up to 14,000 views.  The number of views is needed to justify our investment in GIS to our management and we do not want to lose this historical information.

Please add the capability to preserve the statistics when copying web maps using the ArcGIS Online Assistant.  The lack of this capability is delaying the import of our web maps into our new organization.  Since some of the web maps include a Bing basemap layer we cannot edit them until the maps are imported.

ArcGIS supports LAS datasets for lidar.  There is a growing volume of gpr data for underground/subsurface imaging that should be supported at some level in ArcGIS, including the Image Extension for Server.  There are parallels in supporting seismic data for geophysical exploration work.  GPR and seismic data are multidimensional in nature and complex.  The ArcGIS platform would be a nice fit for display and basic analysis and processing.

During a failed Synchronization run, we have received errors like the ones below:

ERROR 000582: Error occurred during execution.
    The field is not nullable.
    The field is not nullable.

    General function failure
    General function failure

We have may have 20-30 feature classes plus 10 + relationship classes in each of our replicas.  It would save us (and ESRI Tech Support) many, many hours to know what feature class or table experienced the error and what column (field) and even objectid is in question.  The replicalog.dat file does not provide enough trouble shooting information to be of assistance.

Add the ability to create 3d grids and visualize these voxels with isovolumes and isosurfaces for thing such as chemical concentrations, fluid mechanics, and atmospheric visualization.  Analysis tools such as determining the volume of a partiular isovolume should also be provided such as the cubic feet of soil above 5 parts per billion.   See examples from www.avs.com (AVS/Express) or www.ctech.com (EVS).

Prior ArcSDE 9.3 was a Tool called Check Schema to see, if there’s any inconsistency in ArcSDE. Now we have nothing to see if the ArcSDE Repository contains the necessary Records corresponding to the Objects stored in the User-Schemas and so on. For an Enterprise Geodatabase as ArcSDE a Tool like Check Schema is a must!

It appears that you can connect to a PLS-CADD database via any ODBC connection.  How you get the data out of PLS-CADD and into ESRI i have not yet figured out.  There needs to be a way to export the data; locations of structures, the attributes about each structure - height, class, structure type; if you have materials data tied to the structures within PLS-CADD it would also be nice to bring over this data through and possibly tie this to accounting software, work orders, costs etc.

We use very often rotated simbology.

It would be great if Arcgis was managing a field on new feature and on modify feature so I can have automatically rotated the simbologies.

Prerequisite: snapping enviroment on a line geometry
