Joining a table to a feature class in ArcMap

  • A very frustrating thing in ArcMap is the fact that  you cannot create a one to many join on a feature class to a table, it only brings the first record  that it finds. If you join the other way you lose the spatial information.

So an idea would be to create a one-to-many  join that exports the spatial information when you join a feature class to a table. (one feature class table entry - to many table entries)

The "Make Query Table" tool can only work with geodatabase. I have to work with shapefile so a one-to-many join tool would be nice.

Isn't this what the Spatial Join tool does?  It gives you the option of doing a one-to-one join or a one-to-many join and either way retains the spatial info.
