Parcel Fabric Line Template Synchronization with Parcel Fabric Parcel Type

Under Consideration

  • Our organization uses the Tax Parcel Editing Template for ArcGIS 10 to create parcels. The template is based on the parcel fabric data model. At ArcGIS 10 there is an option to select line templates using the traverse tool for creating a construction or a new parcel using the parcel editor to specify different types of lines while creating or editing them. We use the line templates based on the coded value domain "CartoLineType" with a couple of our own types added. I was curious if there was a way to synchronize the line types based on the parcel polygon template used (when creating a new or modifying an existing parcel, i.e. simultaneous conveyance, conveyance division, encumbrance, etc.). Currently when the editor selects a parcel polygon template (say simultaneous conveyance for instance) they then need to select the line template for simultaneous conveyance boundary. Ideally I would like to know if based on the parcel polygon template that the boundary or cartolinetype can be automatically selected when using the parcel editor traverse tool. This would also save time from having to unjoin the parcel and select the appropriate line template for each row in the traverse tool if an update to the lines and its dimensions needs to be made.

That would really help us with the time it is taking to create from parent from a different layer.  Even though the template causes the lines to be created in the correct layer we are having to unjoin every parcel and correct the line type from the parent's line type to the new layers line type and rejoin.
