Expression Renderer

  • Merged
  • Create a feature renderer that allows the user to provide expressions to define the symbology.  This will allow for some fairly advanced symbology, such as symbolizing features based on time fields and other advanced scenarios.

Since there would be the chance that queries may overlap, the user should be able to specify the order of the queries / symbols.  It might be worth considering to provide an option to allow overlapping symbols.  For example, if the user wanted points for the current date to be displayed as 5 point red dots, and points within 10 days of a certain event to display using a 10 point yellow dot, the user may want a symbol that meets both criteria to display as a red dot inside the larger yellow dot.  Of course, this should be optional behavior, with the default being an override in the case of overlapping queries.

This renderer would use SQL or an SQL like language for the expressions.  The property page could use the query builder, since any query that could be used in the definition query window could be used for the symbol expression.
