Expose Version Changes comparison command

  • The  Version Changes command came out at 9.3.  Essentially compares an ArcSDE version to any parent or child (up or down in the lineage) for changes.  The result is a standalone box (albiet nice!) that shows Inserts, Deletes, and Updates (spatial and attribute).  However, this is only available in the GUI of ArcMap and can only be used manually.

This is great information for other needs (reporting, QC, dependent automated tasks, etc).  Other means simply aren't feasible (Feature Compare examines base table, spatial overlays are horrifically slow and still need data massaging and interpretation; A & D table examinations, etc).
