Publish Esri Press books in Kindle format

  • It would be great to be able to have some of the Esri Press books (i.e. Modeling Our World) available in Kindle format.  I buy very few paper books anymore, including technical references, so it would be nice to have the Esri books as well even if some of the graphics didn't translate well.

It would also be usefull to have ArcGIS help pages in an kindle/epub format. Would be invaluable for researching ArcGIS functionality and make studying for ESRI's technical certifications much easier.

Here's an update: Select titles from Esri Press are now offered as e-books. While not available for purchase directly from Esri, these titles can be ordered from many online retailers. Esri Press e-books will be more widely available through your favorite book retailers in the near future.

Yes, everything that is hard cover right now should be in epub format.  Like the ESRI course materials (lectures and exercises) just anything ESRI publishes.  Go GREEN! :)

@cdejacob: There is free software out there that converts epub to kindle mobi files.  I have a kindle and my co-worker has an android tab.  If the person purchases the book, maybe they SHOULD be able to select the e-reader format of choice so that the user can utilize the maximum functionality that comes with their e-reader.

Perhaps as well as the kindle proprietary format, the epub format should be considered.  It's widely supported by almost every reader except the kindle (?).

Glad to read the plural (formats) in your comment, SuzanneB !  :-)

Providing Esri Press books in e-reader formats is something we are actively working on. Look for announcements toward the end of this year or early 2012.
