Data Driven Page text and objects

  • I would like to see Data Driven page specific static text and objects:

This text and objects would be directly linked to the page that the map is on and would be regular static text / objects but would appear, and disappear depending on the given map that the DDP system would be on.

I would also like to see such text and objects being capable of converting  to and from Data Driven specific to stand alone static text/ objects.

This would not be Dynamic text in of itself, just spicific to the DDP page.

The way I add Township and Range text around the data frame is to use a measured grid graticule.
How was the text placed in your example?

Thank you for the additional details.

One example of text would be something like the Township Range notation on various Atlas Maps I create. The problem is that they are so erratic in position on the map, and the maps I create are not contiguous in a grid. The notation changes position along the frame of the Data Frame and changes in quantity when zoomed out to smaller scales. Dynamic text does not allow for automatic adjustments as far as I know.

I am providing examples:

Town-Range Text Example

In example 1, notice the relation to the corner and the scale of the Township-Range.

 TR Example 2
In example 2 (differant map), notice how the scale has changed and the position of the notation.

Another example is a Locator Key text-annotation highlight. I do not know of any scripts that would work here, but a static text linked to the DDP page would allow changes in such a highlight. In this case allowing for text on page one to be highlighted and the others grayed out, and then change on page 2, etc.

This is specific to my circumstance, but I can think of very many applications where static text that is DDP page specific would come in quite handy.

By having the text and or poly-objects become DDP page specific, unwanted objects in one map or desired changes to text/objects from map to map in a DDP sieres become possible.

Other examples include logos, stamps, various images, or other data that remains static in maps, but need to change from one map to another.

Locator Map example

I hope this helps.

Thank you for posting your idea. Could you provide some specific examples of what this text/objects would be and how they would be used?
