Introduce Effects for ArcMap Layouts and Layers so we dont have to use Photoshop/Illustrator

Yes, a drop shadow with blur would be great and save a lot of time.

A more realistic drop shadow in ArcMap would be a huge plus!  More specificially, drop shadows that blur and fade as you move away from the feature that is being shadowed (some software call this 'gaussian blur' on the drop shadow).  These drop shadows can dramatically call attention to prominent features on the map - here is an example.  Simply creating an offset representation produces a relatively weak effect in my opinion; it's like a website designed and laid out with Microsoft Word.   These drop shadows, etc should be applicable to map features/layers and graphics (legends frames, shapes, text).

That would be great, because moving things to Illustrator makes maintenance of charts harder
