I'm not going to please you but in a sense, its not because some random guys re-invent JSON serialization for GEO stuff that ESRI have been doing for years already that it suddenly becomes better !

There is a trend from other systems to not use ESRI-compliant things. Therefore, they just redo a parallel non-compatible implementation. Tomorrow I'm going to setup a new one and force ESRI to adopt it ?

Seriousely, in a much wider scope, what is needed is a truly modular ArcGIS Server in which one can plug in ANY serialization mechanism !
Hence, if you feel like using geojson, just implement it and plug it in like some sort of SOE... But at this point, its just not possible, in that sense, I give you right.

Why wouldn't you?  Come on, get with the times and stop acting like Microsoft.

Openlayers does

In addition, it would be useful if the javascript api supported geojson natively as well.

Better yet, why not transition from a proprietory json definition to geojson?

I don't believe that would have a negative impact on the value proposition of ArcGIS Server at all...instead it would strengthen the ability to leverage ArcGIS Server within existing, non ESRI client implementations.

An absolute must

This would be very usefull. The fact that the Geometry json has no type information inside makes it dificult to deserialize from java clients.

This is a no-brainer. Come on ESRI.

Adding the option for "f=geojson" should be a fairly straightforward modification.
