    Points

  • This dashboard template could be used by user agencies as starting point for their mapping applications.  Built in navigation capabilities would help agencies implement solutions fast.

The Operations Dashboard has been released and can address the need for a templated app.

If you have additional functionality requests for this product, please log additional ideas.

I also agree, it would be great to have the same sort of content/user/services/apps management and the great  gallery/template functionality that ArcGIS.com has right in ArcGIS Server directly from the Rest endpoint without having to use ArcGIS.com.

I think one of the useful functions for this sort of service would be to the ability to cycle through a set of dynamic map services on a schedule.

Like a ticker of financial market data, except spatial. . . it coule be in a ticker format, or a presentation format.

This Dashboard template would do something like cycle through the zones of a city, or cycle through scales to walk the user from a large region in to a small area of interest, or cycles through different themed maps at the same location, or zome to areas of interest along a network.

Give control within Desktop so that this can be consumed as a map service, or within a client app like Desktop Explorer.

The end user could choose the msd's, and the time to view, and the cycle of maps

The other dashboard which should probably be included with the ArcGIS Server Dashboard is one for SDE. In my opinion this would be a great DBA tool. While there are many SDE admins who are also DBA admins there is sometimes that disconnect. What I would like to see as an addition to this idea is one for monitoring SDE Performance and problems that might exist within the Geodatabase. For example, when you log into Oracle Enterprise Manager(Web Version) you are presented a dashboard of the database health. I think ESRI has a lot of recommened best practices/settings for all RDBM's. It would be nice if this dashboard could give us a visual representation of where our setup matches up to the ESRI recommended setup. Therefore, if I missing a parameter that is recommend by ESRI then I should know about it. Also if my statistic get out of date it would be nice to know which layers might hinder performance in my web or desktop apps. Basically ESRI built a tool inside ArcMap to let me know what might hinder the performance of a map document. I am looking for a similar tool for ArcSDE and ArcServer. If you could help some of us who do not know ArcSDE inside and out by giving us a simple dashboard letting us know the quality/health of our SDE database then I think more people would ultimately feel comfortable maintaining and managing their databases. Just a thought and thank you in advance for listening.

For an out of the box Dashboard template with ArcGIS Server, are you thinking about something like the Situational Awareness applications blogged about here, or a configurable application such as the ArcGIS Viewer for Flex?

In regards to a version of the ArcGIS.com comment, please see thisidea about a local implementation of ArcGIS.com

Yep, I completely support this one. it woud be gerat to have a customisable version of the ArcGIS.com home page that ran of the ArcGIS REST endpoint and presentd a nice user friendly acatalogue of services.
