Provide an out-of-the-box print tool for web apps built using the ArcGIS JavaScript API

  • There is no straightforward way to print a map from the web application based on ArcGIS JavaScript API or other Web APIs. If you just try to print the web page by using the browser’s print functionality, different browsers behave differently. But none of them gives you a nice map. We really hope to have a print task that allows a user to add a legend, title, scale bar and other map elements, then output as JPEG or PDF.

Yes, this is a huge weakness right now.  We need a mechnicism for high quality maps from the JavaScript API!    ESRI wants to be a leader and support the JavaScript API then we need something that looks good.
